Method

Grain: one unique canonical MallardJobs job listing. We included every listing marked open on the observation date that had not reached its supplied closing time, had a unique canonical path and employer job reference, recorded employer authorization and salary provenance, and had a working application path.

We checked duplicate MallardJobs IDs, canonical paths and employer job references; none were found. We used the numeric employer-provided GBP-per-year endpoints in the listing records. The median is the middle sorted endpoint because the sample contains nine roles. We made no currency conversion, weighting or adjustment for hours, duration, geography or seniority.

Limitations

  • This is a census of MallardJobs listings, not a random or representative labour-market sample.
  • Nine roles are too few for market-wide, trend, demand or employer-ranking claims.
  • Roles differ in seniority, discipline, hours and contract duration.
  • One salary is FTE/pro rata; one role is a nine-month contract and one is a 12-month fixed term.
  • Physical and hybrid roles are concentrated around London, and species tags overlap.
  • No independent expert review, applicant volume, hiring success or outcome data is claimed.
